Hi, I'm Carine an experienced & trusted Paediatric Dietitian working in Cambridge

An educator and clinician with over 30 years of experience as a children’s Dietitian, and mother to three grown-up young people, food is such a central and enjoyable part of my life. I want to share my passion for real food, good nutrition with up-to-date nutritional science, helping parents to grow healthy eaters, and feel confident talking to children about food, eating and nutrition.

gut health is at the center of nutritional health

Gut health has always been at the heart of nutritional wellbeing. Our food choices shape our gut microbiota, and in turn, our gut health shapes our overall wellbeing. What, when, and how we eat truly matters, with the power to nurture the whole body, through easeful digestion; to strengthen immunity, support mental health, and bring joy and sharing through real, delicious, wholesome food. A diverse diet, rich in plants and wholegrains, plus moderate amounts of fish, lean meat, eggs and fermented dairy forms the foundation of this.

wealth of expertise

With over 30 years of experience supporting children and families as a Childrens Dietitian, I share this from work across the NHS, MRC nutrition research, schools, peer teaching, catering, and the sustainable charity sector through volunteering. My specialist areas of interest include gut health and gastroenterology, dietary management in food allergy, complex feeding scenarios, and robust nutritional assessment.

As both a professional and a mother, I combine evidence-based practice with lived experience and understanding of the challenges and joys of family life.

holistic approaches to food and wellbeing

As a practicing yoga teacher, I weave in mindful tools using breath, senses and the body to develop awareness of the body-mind connection. Mindful tools, such as touching, chewing, smelling and tasting, help to switch on the parasympathetic nervous system; the so-called the 'rest and digest' response. This supports healthy appetite, digestion, absorption of nutrients and bowel function, helping children enjoy real food! Powerful self-care tools for todays’ child and young person, I integrated these simple tools to treat diet-related conditions such as IBS, constipation and food-related anxiety. The alternative sympathetic nervous response, the so-called 'fight or flight" shuts down the digestive system, making food seem alien and unwanted. I am always taking account of up-to-date science, as well as the multiple ways food interacts with our lives.
